Associate Professor of Finance & Associate Chair
Department of Finance
Loyola Marymount University

I am an Associate Professor of Finance and Associate Chair in the Department of Finance at Loyola Marymount University’s College of Business Administration. I hold a PhD in Finance from the University of Oregon, an MBA from Washington State University, and a BA in Business Administration from Washington State University, with majors in Finance and Accounting and a minor in Professional Writing.
My research examines how incentives, information, and institutional rules affect the decisions of financial professionals and firms. Most of my work falls into three connected areas: asset management, corporate governance and director labor markets, and tax policy. Several of my papers use hand-collected or newly linked data to study questions that are difficult to examine with standard datasets.
My work has been published in the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Politics, Journal of Financial Markets, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Review of Corporate Finance Studies, among others.
Prior to academia, I worked as a Planning Analyst at PepsiCo in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
